Over the past 48 hours I have seen this National Association meeting through the eyes of each of my children and am thankful for all of the people who take time to invest in the lives of Free Will Baptist young people. A few people have made joking comments since we have been here about our large family (five children) and the major age range (1-17), but I just see how God has blessed us beyond what we could imagine. Travel and motel living are not easy with a large family, but we manage. Yes, I stay busy keeping up with everyone at the National, but I see the benefit for each of my children. They are blessed to see other families striving to live for and serve Christ together. They are learning the importance of daily time alone with God. They are seeing other teenagers committed and surrendered to serve. They are seeing Free Will Baptist people from all over the world who are fellow labourers with us, who pray for us, who support us financially and enable us to serve in Québec. They are being loved on by people who they don't even know.
I have met people who have invested in the life of our oldest over the past 8 weeks while she has been in the States without us. Our young people have opportunities to serve and learn through E-Team and Truth and Peace, learning from those who are in the midst of ministry. I cannot begin to describe the feeling of knowing that other members of our FWB family have made themselves available to our kids.
Yes, the National is work, and I will spend time chasing kids through the halls. However, i will also spend time sharing my heart with like-minded pastors' wives and moms, I will be told by complete strangers that they pray for our family, and I will be reminded repeatedly why I am proud to be Free Will Baptist.
